Ohh look at that one. The 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV is the choice for my adventure through Miami and beyond. But wait, this is an EV. Let's dig in. The electric vehicle (EV) market is intensely competitive, with numerous manufacturers vying for market share as demand for EVs surges globally. While some companies, like Tesla and BYD, initially held significant market positions, the landscape is rapidly evolving with the entry of new players and the diversification of existing ones, leading to increased competition and fluctuating market shares.

The 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV appears to be a competitive contender in the electric SUV segment, especially due to its attractive combination of affordability, range, and technology. Starting at around $35,000, it's positioned as one of the most budget-friendly electric SUVs offering a substantial range. This is a significant advantage over many rivals, including the Tesla Model Y and Hyundai Ioniq 5, which start at considerably higher price points. Intense competition is driving down prices and potentially impacting profit margins for some manufacturers. Companies are investing in research and development to introduce new models and features, and to diversify their product offerings.

We recently had the pleasure of taking the all-new Chevrolet Equinox EV for a spin, and let me tell you, this electric SUV is turning heads and changing the game. So buckle up, grab your favorite beverage, and let's dive into my impressions!
With an EPA-estimated range of up to 319 miles with front-wheel drive (FWD) and 307 miles with all-wheel drive (AWD), the Equinox EV's range is competitive and in some cases surpasses rivals like the Hyundai Ioniq 5's base model. In fact, an Edmunds real-world test even saw the FWD model achieve 356 miles on a single charge. This long range helps alleviate "range anxiety" often associated with electric vehicles.
First Impressions: A Visual Treat

From the moment the Equinox EV rolled up, I was hooked and it seems I wasn't the only one! "At first sight, The most striking feature of the Chevy Equinox EV is its overall exterior design and the beautiful blend of colors and lines." Seriously, the design team at Chevy nailed it. The Riptide Blue Metallic on our test model is an absolute stunner, contrasted with black accents across the front facia sweeping from side to side adding aggressive and sporty design cues all screaming fun. It's got that perfect blend of modern and muscular, without being overly aggressive. You can definitely see the Chevy DNA in the strong shoulder lines and confident stance, but with a futuristic twist that screams "I'm electric and I'm fabulous!"
The thoughtful use of vibrant colors with the rearview mirrors and roof top in white stood out against the beautiful Riptide Blue body color." It's those little details that elevate a car's look. And speaking of details, prepare to be impressed by the door handles. "I personally like the flushed door handles when the vehicle is locked. This design touch sealed it for me, making the side view seamless." It’s such a clean and modern touch, contributing to the overall sleek aesthetic.

"Tires are not a thing for most people but in this case these 21 inch Continental tires really make a big difference in the overall aesthetic look and supports its athletic stance.
The chrome abstract wheel covers adds a point of interest and you know for me it’s so much about the details." These weren't your average rims; they were a statement, perfectly complementing the Equinox EV's sporty vibe.
Step Inside the Funhouse!Let's not forget the rolling art at the bottom! "At the base of the doors that striking silver accent framed with black on top and below really makes the silver stand out." It adds a touch of sophistication and visual interest along the profile.

Okay, let's talk interiors, because let's be honest, that's where we spend most of our time, right? For me, stepping inside the Equinox EV was like entering a happy place. "My first impression was wow. The color palette and material choices are just delightful. Inside is just as bold as the exterior contrasting colors, combining black and white, accented with dark grey and then, BAM! That added light metallic blue accent framing the side air vents and carrying across the doors. The rear seats were not left out, with a bold black and white mix.
Now, for the tech lovers (and let's face it, who isn't?), prepare to be wowed by the screens. "Sitting behind the driver seat I’m really appreciating the bold 11 inch instrument display and this gigantic 17.7 inch infotainment display in the center console. The lettering is big, and that works for me." These aren't just big screens for the sake of being big; they're incredibly user-friendly. "The icons are easily discernible and really adds a level of ease and accessibility to managing vehicle features." Navigating through the menus felt intuitive, and all the information you need is right there at your fingertips.

"Across the dash directly below the windshield, it’s all a rich dark gray, as you move towards the driver, you’ve got this beautiful rich swat of soft white faux leather framed by turbine styled air dispensers in a super fun pop of light metallic blue." The way they incorporated that playful dash of blue was a fantastic touch. "I love that the designers carried through on this three tone color combination from the exterior and throughout the interior." It creates a cohesive and stylish and very fun environment.
And let's not forget where we park our behinds! "The seats with bold dual color scream sport vibe and they carried that vibe to the rear seats as well." They not only look fantastic but felt supportive and comfortable, even during longer drives, the overall shape provided good support. The panoramic sunroof (available on higher trims) is a must for letting in that beautiful Florida sunshine! The materials used throughout the cabin felt good to the touch, adding to the overall feel.

Hitting the Road: Smooth and Swift!
Alright, time for the fun part, let's turn our attention to the drive. Note that this an all EV and like others in it's class, have a swift electrical charge..." And swift it is! The instant torque from the electric motor is exhilarating. For the all-wheel-drive model, the Equinox EV can accelerate from 0-60 mph in a quick 5.8 seconds, putting a smile on your face every time you hit the accelerator.
It truly does feel like you're in command. "All in all I simply had a good feeling behind the wheel and I must say this Chevy Equinox EV hits the mark with this design that just made me feel happy. Maybe that's just me." But I have a feeling it won't just be me!
The Verdict?

The Chevrolet Equinox EV is a winner in my book. It boasts a striking exterior design with thoughtful details, a fun and user-friendly interior packed with technology, and a smooth, responsive driving experience. It's a fantastic option for anyone looking to make the switch to electric without sacrificing style or practicality.
